CDeib, I agree with some of what you said but I also disagree on certain things. I definitely agree that Iggy is ready to break out. He has worked on his game and his jumper, and he just looked like he was one of the few players on the 76ers that could compete with the Celtics. I don't agree that Speights should be starting over Sam. Did you see Sam's D at the beginning of the game? K. Perkins was definitely looking for him after Sam snuffed his dunk at the rim. Sam rebounded well, too. This team need Sam's D at the beginning of games and throughout the game. Speights is in a perfect role right now, come off the bench gunning. He doesn't have the bulk to guard most centers in this league and I think he would get worn down trying to do that on a regular basis. And by the way, it's not who starts it is who finishes. Even in the losses to the Magic and Celtics, the 76ers started off the game well with Sammy at center. Speights is in a good role for himself right now. Instead of getting Sam's minutes, you should be saying that Speights should get some of Elton's minutes. The most discouraging thing about the Celtics loss is that Stefanski signed Brand for games just like last night and Brand LOOKED intimidated down low. He'd get the ball 2-feet from the basket, think about putting it up, see Garnett and Perkins, and kick it back out. What the F$$$%%CK are they paying you $85M for? To get the ball down low and kick it out? Please. And as for Lou Williams, I focused on his game a little more last night because of the Rondo matchup, and I thought he played reasonably well. His shot wasn't falling, but he still did the other things that a good PG does. He consistently found the open man last night and should have had about 3 more assists if some players would have converted his dimes. Even though they got behind, he played under control. He tried to stay in front of Rondo, but doing that is not a one-man job because of the screens that the Celtics constantly set for him. It's team D and wanting to fight through screens. And Rondo is a beast on the boards for a PG and for getting steals. He's an All-Star in the East, in my book. And lastly, Jrue Holiday got more burn than at anytime during this season and delivered fairly well. He had the one turnover at the top of the key, but he also had two assists, buried a three, and consistently found the open man when he was in the game. In fact, I think there will come a time when you will see Iggy at the 3, Lou Will at the 2 and Holiday at the 1. That should be an effective lineup because all three can pass, score and help space the floor by hitting a three. I also think the O should have a good passing flow when those 3 are in the game because all are unselfish and will find the open man. And at 6'4'', Jrue can guard some shooting guards. Lastly, I think the play of Brand and Thad really killed the team last night because both provided NOTHING. Thad's bricks really put this team into a hole and Brand looked like he wanted nothing to do with Boston's frontline. You are saying Sammy needs to be benched, but he was the only player on the 76ers starting frontline that made an impact in the first half. Sammy wasn't the issue last night. |
