The Sixers came to play tonight, boys...love the effort on D (and as I type this Rondo is left wide open for a 18-footer that he nails LOL)...

They did come out of blocks great defensively, led by none other than Sammy Dalembert. Wish we could get this out of him on a consistent basis.

Rondo can have that shot all day. He stinks at shooting, just got to keep him out of the lane (easier said than done).

I wouldn't credit the D as much as I would say today's ballers cannot shoot the ball.

I am only 19, didn't see many shooters prior to '97 ballers and I'd say the shooters of today's NBA are pretty much the equivalent to the shooters from '97. Although, you could make the argument that today's NBA is more of a run-and-jump league. Actually, there's really no argument there lol...

Teams use to average over 50% shooting as a team back in the day....I have no idea what it is now, but there probably aren't any teams that are close to that.

The effort offensively and on the boards was right there with the defensive effort.

The Celtics didn't even bring their A game.

I agree. They played very good defense when I was listening (1st quarter) and giving up 105 to Boston isn't awful. And Sam was by far our best player early.

THEY CANNOT SHOOT! THEY CAN'T GET GOOD SHOTS.

Teams use to average over 50% shooting as a team back in the day....

Only for a brief period in the early 80s. After that, defenses got really sophisticated. In the 60s, teams averaged 110 - 115 points on 42% shooting because they shot so much more often.
Everything worth doing is difficult, especially shooting.

They couldn't buy a bucket tonight. Combine that with going up against maybe the best defense in the league and the struggles of implementing the new offense... obviously things are going to get ugly.

Thad really needs to get out of this shooting slump, he was pretty bad tonight.

The defense back in the '80s wasn't half as good as it is today. That's usually the first thing that comes to mind when I watch ESPN Classic games from that era.

The second is how jacked players look today compared with players from the '80s. Magic and Larry look like beanpoles compared with, say, Wade and Carmelo.
