With Daly in his last year with an expiring $12.2M deal, I think Marcus Camby would be a good fit for this team at the mid-level for a 2 to 3-year-deal. He will be 36-years-old next summer, so he won't command big money, but he'd be an upgrade over Sam and would ensure that the 76ers would have a legitimate 5 when Sam leaves. After 5 games this year, Camby is still averaging a double-double (11 points, 10 rebs and 2.4 blocks).

The center that Ed really wants going forward for this team is Chris Kaman. Maybe he can swing something with some expirings, including Sam's deal, next season, but Camby would be decent insurance and allow Jason Smith to grow into the position (get stronger and learn a low post move) as well.

And I also like the idea of trying to get Marc Gasol from the Memphis Grizzlies since they already drafted C Hasheem Thabeet and will have to pay Rudy Gay and O.J. Mayo in the future.

With so many free agents available and so little money, Ed should be able to get a mid-level free agent to help this team.

Thoughts?

I'd love to get Gasol. He seems to be developing nicely and plays with toughness. Kaman doesn't seem to be able to stay healthy, and has less athleticism, so I'm hoping we keep away from him.

Oh, I forgot to say who my sleeper mid-level free agent for this team is ... SG Kelena Azibuke.

That would be if we are able to get a starting big in a trade for Daly or a couple of bigs with potential in the draft.

I don't see them spending the MLE next year with where the luxury tax is projected.

Not sure Camby would have much interest in signing here anyway. I'd think he'd be looking to sign on with a contender.

Gasol would be a great fit, but I don't think they'd let him go even with the addition of Thabeet... at least until Thabeet shows he can actually play.

If Kaman keeps playing the way he is, I really can't see them moving him. Plus he's been pretty injury prone.

I'm thinking Brand and Speights is going to end up being our starting front court, and could be a very good one.

We can probably grab a Sammy replacement via the draft, as there seems to be some good depth at the center position this upcoming year. Greg Monroe would seem to be a great fit for this offense if we could somehow manage to get him.
