I haven't been able to fully watch each game, but it looks like EB is doing okay.

What is the early word from those who have seen him play?

Not Horrible but not playing to contract expectations. He holds the ball a little to long in the post , which turns into turnovers or blocked shots.

Looks pretty explosive considering basically 2 years off. One play I remember was a fastbreak where he streaked down the lane and got a powerful dunk in transition. His shot looks good, and has okay shot selection.

It seems like it's another one of those situations where a guy used to getting a ton of shots is struggling with the offense. When he gets the ball he is determined and probably won't pass out unless its a double team. A couple games ago we went to him 2 times in a row, he scored 2 easy buckets, and he didn't get the ball for another 5 or 6 possessions. To me he looks like the real deal. Maybe not worth the big contract, but not many big money players in the league are worth their contracts. If I were to guess I'd say he could get somewhere between 16-18 points, 7-9 rebounds and a block and a half consistently this year.

His jumper is coming back. But his ability to jump and drive to the basket is still not their yet.

On offense he looks a little rusty, but he's doing his high post thing and seems to be getting better with his shot each game. And is showing that he can keep up on transition, so that's a good sign

I think his rebounding is where you most see the lingering effects of his injury. Esp. offensive rebounding, where he doesn't have the same ability to explode on that second jump after a shot and get the offensive board.

he is fine, he is a monster that continues to improve...lets be honest here its not like he is surrounded by snipers.. so IMO for what he is able to do considering the conditions (no fellow big man with good hands to play with)etc is is doing well.

he is coming along nicely..

Well he played well against two teams with terrible front courts, and poorly against Orlando. What can anyone say about that? Tonight will be a very interesting start against KG.

I'd say that's pretty spot on so far.

He can still hit the midrange, rebound and block. That's more than Sammy can do.

Keep in my that the "positve" feedback you received were after two games against two poor teams. Basically Brand is much like the team itself. Puts up a solid performance against bad/mediocre teams and performs poorly against better teams/talent.

All of this rolls into one big 'ol ball of boring mediocrity as has been rolling since December 20, 2006.

just like last year Elton want to play alongside Speights. He needs a big who has a little range to open things up for him. So far there's a price to pay defensively but if MS will develop and EB continue to recover they might be a tolerable combination.

I have come to the conclusion that Elton Brand's biggest challenge is, not getting his shot blocked. Be careful Elton, they might decide to strip you instead.

But if both shoot J's, shouldn't M16 play next to Sam, since Elton is busy bricking J's all day?
