I haven't had the chance to see any of the Sixers game so far this season. From the box score, it looks like Dumblebert sucks like he always does. I think in one game he had more fouls than rebounds!

The fans who watched the games, what do you guys think about Dumblebert so far? Does he show any improvement? Has he developed any offensive moves yet? He better, considering EddieJ said Dumbo is our best shooter and best offensive weapon!!

Same old inconsistent Sammy. He did give Bogut a lot of trouble though.

My one word would be.....sad..
I really, really want him to do well.. With his size, his athletic ability, and him being able to really run the floor, he should be a force.. But mentally he's not there, at all.. He's had a couple flashes as usual, but he can't get it together..

Sam stinks, PERIOD!!! One of the problems IMO with the NBA is the lack of skill players. Every team in the NBA can boast about ATHLETIC guys on the team. But only the teams with skilled players (shooters, defenders, rebounders, passers, etc) make it. Sam is probably the most athletic C in the L (Chandler), but he stinks at everything, but running. He's fast, quick, can jump, and still after 8+ yrs in the L does not have 1 post move or perimeter move or any type of move. No skill.

Usain Bolt is one of the most athletic persons on the planet, but his bball skills suck. I want bball players more than athletes on a basketball team.

He hasn't looked all that good. That still doesn't change the fact that he is the best rebounder on the team and really the only legitimate center although I feel funny typing legitimate. They need to play him more consistently. They have to just put him out there for 30 minutes a game and hope he plays better. If your going to have him play 15 minutes one game and 35 the next, without fouls being a real issue in the 15 minute game, you will have no chance at getting Sam to play well. We are stuck with the guy for at least another year and a half.

Wonder if he'll be covering KG.

I think I'd prefer that. Perkins always seems to beast Sammy, and I think Sam might have a better chance of guarding KG than Brand due to his length.

Either way, wouldn't be surprised to see him in early foul trouble once again.

Surprisingly, Eddie Jordan hasn't had a quick hook on Sam and has even let him play through his foul trouble. The only problem is that Sam still hasn't learned how to play and not pick up fouls. Jordan is giving him a lot of rope because he knows Sammy is very important to this team's D this year.

People who have railed against Sam will be thankful that he is on the roster next year when he'll have an expiring $12.2M contract. Add to that Kapono's $6.6M expiring and Willie Green's $3.9M for a total of $23M in expiring contracts, Stefanski better be willing to turn that into something significant. And I'm not talking about another $80M plus contract where the player's best days are behind him.

all you need ot know is that he is EXACXTLY the same he has always been..

classic case of a guy that could actuallty be good at a few things (vlocks and boards) but instead of hoping to be liek dennis rodman, he thinks (HE LITERALLY THINKS) he can be amare..

aside from the fact i HATE his guts, i even admit he could be decent.. but he isnt interested in that. he wants to try to dribble and shoot...

i 100 percent would buy him out

Poor Sammy....I think he has been working on his game...I've seen him put the ball on the floor and try to drive in for a lay-up at least twice so far. Problem is he doesn't want to be a center...he wants to be a SG. Eddie Jordan said the offense was gonna be a BEAUTIFUL thing and Sam's taken it to heart :)

Thanks for all the replies. So, Sammy is the same old Dumblebert! I am not surprised. I was hoping he would have developed some moves over the summer judging from E.Jordan's rave comments about Sammy's offensive prowess. Unbelievable that an athletic guy like him has not made any improvements in his game in eight years in the league.

What makes me scratch my head is Jordan's rave comments about Dumbelbert's offense. What the hell was that based on? Or, worse, Jordan is such a poor judge of talent and players' capabilities- does not bode well for us.

You hit the nail on the head with that one. Overall, there is much less skill in the NBA compared to two or three decades ago. All the rule changes over the years (including dunking) have helped to destroy the skill and IQ requirements of the game. Now there is so much emphasis on athleticism over pure talent and skills especially for the big men. Any 7+ foot stiff who can walk is a cherished center in the NBA nowadays. I think it is time to come up with some rule changes that will showcase true bb skills. I would propose changes like a new semi circle near the basket where an offensive player can't go, abolish dunking and increase the clock by two to four seconds, stop the pushing and pulling etc. to start. The game should be made more skill based and less physical.

LOL! I can still remember a two or three years ago he tried to dribble and dunk from the 3-point line in front of the basket! He ended up committing a walk and charge. I think the refs charged him with the charge. I was beyond myself watching that with horror.

His game is weak. He has not improved his offensive game at all. He is typical of the modern day ballplayer who collects millions but refuse to work hard and improve their game every year.

NinaC this is a post cut-and-pasted from a boston.com fan forum thread. I was over there asking what were their thoughts, pre-game.

As you'll read below, I didn't see the last quarter and the last 3 minutes of the 3rd - but I still have My First Question for Professor/Mr. Ed.

I could write a new post but like I said, this is from a celtics board thread (link below) :

It's, like, 8.30 in the AM there in Beanburg, Mass. Here in Oz/Australia, it's 11.29 PM Wednesday night.

I started the Game Thread on philly.com, knowing I had an early-afternoon appointment, my time, and I'd have to leave mid-to-late 3rd quarter. I switched off and left at 3:02 in the 3rd. Dalembert, with 1 foul, 8 points, 8 boards, 2 real turnovers and one dead-set dodgy offensive goaltending call - had just gone-bench for MoMo. Oh yeah - Sam'd just jammed a dunk down to drag us back to 14 down too, after we'd been down by 20 in the quarter.

I did not agree with the substitution, but I thought maybe Jor'dan was resting Big Haiti. Or something. Anyway, I muttered that EJ should've dragged EB for MoMo, and I left the office.

I'm about to go back to philly.com and read what the phans (and the phreaks) posted in the Game Thread after I left, but I'd like to make a point here before I do that. In my pregame post in this thread, I said if we were to compete with the Big Green Dream Machine - Dalembert would have to stay out of foul trouble. I also said he's no KG but he can be a double-double center with above-average lane-locking skill. Again, he's no KG.

Big Haiti finished the game with 8 points, 8 boards and 1 phreakin' phoul. Why, "What's The" DeaLio - I mean Professor/Mr. Ed, oh why did he only get 24 minutes? Would we have been more competitive if he'd played 39? If he hadn't been benched after a team-lifting dunk would we have continued to come back? Probably, slash, maybe not.

I could say a little more, but I might cut and paste a post or 2 from our bored (compared to yrs) if anyone's interested - and conphreakingratulaions, you septic Celtic scums...

This is the first new post in our Game Thread :

"ELTON SLURPS* idc yall can say w/e yall want but he is a bum"

(* - Yep, you got it, no cuss philter in phillydot...)
