Regardless of how knowledgeable a basketball man Ed Stephanski is, he will never out live the contracts that he gave to Elton Brand and Andre Iguaduala. This team has a good nucleus to build around and it does not include those 2. Elton Brand looks useless on the court, he looks like he's not even half the player Mo Speights is. And Iggy keeps regressing ever single year. Same crap different day, can't shoot and careless with the basketball. That's $150 million that will cripple this franchise for the next 6 years. Speights, Lou Williams, & Thad Young are hands down the best players on this team. Speight, Lou Williams, Thad Young, & Jrue Holiday all have the most upside. Build around these 4 players and do whatever you can to shed Brand & Iggy.

"And Iggy keeps regressing ever single year"

actually he has improved every single year, in pretty much every category

Have you ever watched a game? Or do you just look at the stats in the newspaper? His stats look better because of .. more minutes played... more touches.. freedom to pull the trigger whenever he feels like it. Watch the game, watch how other players look like they are playing in an actual designed offense and he is a complete mess. Watch how he handles the ball like he's playing in a pick up game with nothing to lose. Just because he scores 19 a game now instead of 12 a game then it doesn't mean he's a better/more efficient player now. Because he is not.

i have watched a game or two - for about 30 or more years actually

I don't know how to answer u - nothing I write will have any impact on your view

I think he's a fine player - he had a bad game the other night for sure, and his shot lets him down, but he makes up for it in so many ways

he turns the ball over but he will lead this team in assists

keep your opinion but I think you are very wrong

I'm 35 and a Sixers fan since they brought Moses Malone to town. Also a partial season ticket holder for the past 7 years with a 2+ hour drive to the games. In other words, I do care. It has to drive you nuts to watch some of Iggy's aweful passes to no one. Or how about fade away jumpers from the top of the key 6 seconds into the shot clock. Or when he jumps into the air with no where to deliver the ball. I know he is athletic and talented. However, I also know what winning basketball is when I see it. And he hasn't been it. And that has nothing to do with just Wed. nites game. On a side note, Did Stephanski do any homework before signing Brand? I was excited to get him, but he looks so slow. If he could return to his pre-injury self. That immediately would make them a decent team.

thanks for your credentials but i didn't question yours - you questioned mine

I think last nights game is driving u nuts - they are all very unsure about this new offence and we must resign oursleves that it will be this way for a while

Ig is not a PG converted to the 2 or 3

he is a very athletic guy who has become an allround talent and has had to make himself into an offensive threat other than with the dunk - he is still a work in progress but it has been a pretty impressive work in progress imo and seemingly not in yours

he isn't always pretty but i still maintain, last night's game notwithstanding, that he is very effective

he struggled last year early and it seems it will be that way this year as well

it might be the 2 guard thing, or just the early season thing or some combination

we shall see

Ok we dont no if the Brand Contract is bad or not cause all we have on that is an injury year and one game.

But i think your wrong if you think the iggy contract was a mistake.

Are you telling me that if Ed would of let our Best player( and one of the best all around players inthe NBA) go that you would of been cool with that.

Give me a Break, I think that if Iggy and Brand even put up ok numbers, and the team sucks, Its because of your beloved Young core players. This maens that Thad, Lou, Smith ECT are not stepping up.

If Iggy is one of the all around best players in the NBA. Why didn't anyone want him when he was a Rest. FA? Why did his agent's phone not ring? Why no sign and trade talk? Again, his stats are a lot better than his game. Athletically, no question about it, he's a stud. But he's a turnover machine and his shot selection is terrible. We'll see when he gets used to Eddie Jordan's system how he is. Because there is nothing that he has ever done to show my that he can play within a system at a high level. Eddie Jordan is a very good coach. Regardless if he works out here or not. I hope Iggy realizes that this Princeton offense will make him or break him!! It made Jamsion, Arenus, & Butler stars.. Hopefully it will do the same for Iggy.

a 80 mill dollar contract is not acceptable for a player who's a work in progress. He is, what he is.

It's going to be very difficult to move Iggy and Brand. The 76ers are pretty much stuck with the two until the final years of their deal.

What Ed has to do to keep his job is A: Continue to hit in the draft next year when the team has 2 picks & B: Turn the expiring $23M contracts of Sammy, Willie Green and Kapono in two years into something that is a blockbuster move to help this franchise forward.

Other than that, there is nothing that he can do because Snider isn't going to spend the money. Ed's in a tough situation if Iggy and Brand don't play up to expectations. And he has two more years before he's going to have to pay Thad and Jason Smith, and three years when he'll have to pay Speights.

I can't blame Ed for the Elton Brand deal. Our alternatives at the 4 at the time was Reggie Evans. Still, Brand looks pretty bad right now. Hopes he improves as the season goes on.

SD can board well per minute! I would keep JK, we'd have ZERO shooters otherwise. GSW & HOU (they don't want to be bottom-dwellers, do they, without Yao and TMcG?!) are 2 teams I would try to pkg. Igs + Elton to

i don't buy that at all

he's expensive but thats OK if u belive he is an elite player

u and many others don't

but the league is littered with scorers who don't or won't pass and don't or won't play D

Iguodala does both

the league is also littered with good players who never get any better

Ig is 25 and has improved every year and there is no reason he won't continue to do so

Work in progess???? How long has Iggy in the league, over 5 years now? I'm sorry but after 5 years in the league a player still can't be consider a 'work in progress'. Iggy is what he is, an athletic player who can run the floor very well and, on some nights, defend the other team top player. But he can't create his own shot, looks horrible in the half court at times and hasn't proven himself in the playoffs for the past 2 years.

No, thats not right

"Work in progess???? How long has Iggy in the league, over 5 years now? I'm sorry but after 5 years in the league a player still can't be consider a 'work in progress'. "

Most players come into this league with their game pretty much established - then they refine it and improve the product over their years in the L

but some, like Iguodala, like Paul Milsapp, like Andrew Bynum, like Arenas come in as very raw and actually only really start to developp their game when they here and then continue to improve year after year

Ig had no O at all on arrival - that he is now 18+ per game and still improving defies your "rule"

"Iggy is what he is, an athletic player who can run the floor very well and, on some nights, defend the other team top player."

OK but a little credit for the D - u can't deny he is an outstanding defender

"But he can't create his own shot,"

last year he got a weave happening before being given the ball and asked to create - other than Miller's alley oops noone else on this team has been creating shots for him - he has had to do it himself and also create for others

"looks horrible in the half court at times"
he is better than "horrible" that is just not true

"and hasn't proven himself in the playoffs for the past 2 years. "

he had a poor series against detroit 2 years ago when our lack of alterior options exposed him. he played well against Orlando - won one game and scored better than in the regular season

Well mybe because other teams no the sixers werent going to let there best player walk, Mybe there are aready ton of SF's in the game. Didnt wait long enough.

If they they did Bid agninst there self, it wasnt the best deal.

Forget how he really play's. Numbers wise he's earning his keep.
