Not sure where I'll be fishing this weekend. I do want to try for smallies, so the Big D or the skuke will definately be on my radar. Have to wait to see what the snow melt does to those two rivers. I'll also be doing some trout fishing this weekend, probably head up to the lehigh valley, but again have to wait to see what happens with the snow melt.

Thanks. I was just talking with my buddy. We may try and target walleye on the big D sunday. I'll definitely keep one or two of them. I've heard they are the best tasting fresh water fish.

A few years back below the wing dam in Lambertville I was fishing smallies in some fast water. These two guys come floating down in a rubber boat and tie up onto one of those huge boulders and climbed up on top. No kidding the were dropping some kind of spoons and were pulling in the walleyes by the dozen. It seemed like every time they hit the water they caught a fish. They were throwing them back. I watched em float a couple hundred yards down river and start all over again. If you can get down that area give it a shot.

That's where I was yesterday, by the lambertville wingdam. It was more of a scouting trip with a fly rod then an actual fishing trip. Water was high and extremely cold from the snow/ice melt off. I was with a buddy of mine and we were scouting locations to float the river come spring. Found some real sweet spots, once it warms up it will be on for smallies.

I do pretty well fishing behind those large rocks below the wing dam.And if you gonna float stop and hop up on one of those monster boulders and fish behind them. The walleye sit there out of the fast water along with some nice smallies.I'll be the one in a Hendrix tee (weather providing) or hoodie and a baseball cap fishing off the rocks. I know you'll be fly fishing! Don't know if you can but I have great success using all types of plastics up there. Edited 2/9/2009 1:32 pm ET by waterboy

Do you live up near Bull's Island. That was one of the spots I scouted yesterday. That seems like a pretty good spot. I was fishing the deep hole right below the foot bridge, got a hit but that was about all the action I had. Thanks for the info on the wing dam, I usually fish further up river, but I'm definitely gonna hit that section this year.

Live between Burlington and Bordentown. I like fishing the fast water.Plus I think it's kinda hard getting access from the Jersey side above the dam but I'll have to scout it out this year.I hear the fishing around the island is great but I don't have a boat.I wonder if I can fish off my waverunner up there??Gotta check it out. |

I'm heading out tomorrow. Here in SE PA all the special reg trout waters get stocked in Feb, so I'll be hitting up the Fly Fishing Only section of one of my favorite local streams. They usually stock the big boys in the special regs sections, so I'm expecting to catch a couple bruisers tomorrow.

No! It's the boys game.I'll be sitting in the hall with somebody's mother I probably can't stand counting the minutes till I can get out of Dodge! Gotta pool and a daughter with a lot of girlie friends. The eye candy shows up in car loads. No scouting required. It ain't easy being me.Am I getting to be a dirty old man or is it just nature? Who cares. I won't look.
