Why not? We hate on everyone else. Do you really think we'll get him? |

Will Ruben outbid himself again, like the Ibanez deal? Have we already checked in withthe agent? Why wouldn't the Angels resign him anyway? |

| I'm really thinking Beltran. He's got a great glove and the potential to put up huge number in our park. |

He is good but too old. I think Beltre would be a better solution. feliz is not that bad. What we need is a number two starter, closer and bench.

Thinking being the operative word. I love this time of year, before long the "we need" crowd will have the Phillies going after every major FA in baseball followed by months of outlandish trade proposals with names like Ichiro, Halladay, Hernandez, Manny etc. being bounced around like ping pong balls. And if that's not interesting enough we'll then hear a zillion reasons (none of them credible mind you) why we should trade Rollins, Howard, Ruiz, Hamels and Werth, welcome to the forum's hot stove! Presently constructed, I think the team has the flexibility to make one major move. Figgins would solve a couple of problems for us but I'm having a tough time figuring why the Angels would not bring him back? IMO, the team needs to address the pen, I'll cross my fingers and figure Lidge will bounce back to at least respectability but after Madson there are lots of question marks. Upgrading the bench could partially come from within, Taylor could slide in as the teams 4th OF provided Charlie can find 200 or so ABs for him, no way the kid can sit on the bench. |

Pathfinder. Good post. Some of the pie in the sky posters are jumping at every crazy rumor out there. If Figgins isn't carrying "baggage" we don't know about, why would the Angels let him go ? I'm for keeping Feliz for at least one more season, in hopes we can sign a younger good fielding third baseman, if anything like that exists. Let's not forget, Feliz makes good throws to first base, otherwise Howard may have problems fielding them. I'll be surprised if they don't re sign him. ..9.. |

| Our new 3B next year will be Mark DeRosa. The Phillies will not pay for Figgins. They tried to trade for DeRosa a few years ago and Rueben likes that he can play all over the infield. |

| I thought Beltre was like 29 and Figgins 34 or 35 my bad. If that is the case either will be good. If we can get De rosa as a back up that would be great. |

| The Angels are getting tired of him. He has been in the post season as a regular since 2004. In 6 seasons ,35 games 122 ab's he has hit 172, obp 223 slg 246. he has struck out 33 times in 122 ab's I think they came to the conclusion he is a nice player who plays well but is useless in the post season. If anybody watched the Angles games this year they would have seen his futile ab's and how many men he left on base. Maybe he needs someone to give him rest so he is not worn out at the end of the season like Chase. |

Patty, I hope that someone isn't the Phillies. They've had enough reclamation programs for years. If they would get someone, I'd hope it would be someone who can step in without all the question marks. I'm sure the Nationals aren't going to give up their third baseman, and the Mets won't part with an overrated David Wright. I think the Phillies should pick up Feliz's contract for another year. Lest we forget, this was the first season after his back surgery. I would expect him to hit for average next season. He isn't a young Mike Schmidt, but he's not an embarrassment either. He was good enough to help the team to the World Series, and certainly didn't lose any of the World Series games for them. He didn't set a record for errors, or strike outs either. The Phillies better concentrate on pitching. Charlie did a good job of patching a make shift staff together. Next year will be stronger competition from the Braves and the Marlins. They've improved their staff. ..9.. |

Didn't AROD have horrific playoff numbers for several years? Somehow AROD broke out of his playoff funk. That is to be expected of a premium player. Perhaps Figgins isn't premium. Figgins puts up nice numbers during the year. 100 BB, 42 SB's, .298 AVG, .398 OBP. Why don't these numbers translate into the postseason? Does he feast on mediocre to poor pitching? Does he get dominated by the top pitchers? |

| I agree that the Brave have a much better staff then us. I would also say a few teams have better pitching then us even with Cole pitching well. Our offense has been able to overcome a lot of pitching problems. Now if Happ continues his career the way he did last in 2009 then we look pretty good with steady Joe but we don't know about Happ and we won't until we get into the season. I believe our pen will be really good if lidge bounces back but if not we need someone to take over faster then this year. Lidge can not be allowed to mess up the dynamics of the pen for a 2nd year |
