that we get another frontline starter. Cause a healthy Myers is gonna be a pretty darn good pitcher.

We already did. Cliff Lee was Myers' 'front-line' replacement. We aren't the Yankees. We are on a budget. We cannot re-sign everyone.

If we have a 140 million dollar payroll, we'll have more than enough money for a 3Bmen and a frontline starter.

No I'm not saying that at all. I'm saying what is available right now is not worth the price. We should save a little money until the deadline and then trade for a quality pitcher to go a long with Lee and Hamels. Maybe Drabek is dealing by then anyway? We wouldn't have to pay the pitchers full salary. What if a Brandon Webb is available via trade for cheap in July?

How? We lost 22 mil in contracts but that does not include, Lee, Blanton and who ever else that needs to be signed. The thinking is Joe could get 7 million if he goes to arbitration. The bp needs new guys also the bench and a back up catcher. They were talking 140 million would be our payroll. That figure might include 7 or 8 mil for Figgins which seems to be the guy every one wants. That does not leave too much for a big starting pitcher. I don't think we will be able to get a good 3rd baseman and a top notch pitcher nd be able to sign the guys we need to

That's why we need to wait until the trade deadline for another pitcher. We only have to pay half their salary. You know? It's the same thing we have been doing with Blanton, Lee and Moyer. At least we would have a stud like Figgins.

We're at 110 million with Blanton. That leaves 30 million to fill 3B, SP and fill out our bench and pen. |

That's what I'm thinking. You don't just tell Myers goodbye without a plan to replace him.

If you trade you gotta give up prospects. We don't need to get a #1 but a solid #2 or #3 is needed.

If Halliday's price goes down, I'd make him our big acquisition. Otherwise, I'd get Figgins and still get a second-tier starter like Hardin. I don't want to rely on Martinez or Moyer. Right now, I'm hoping Hamels recovers.

Hardin would be perfect. Thinking about next year's postseason I'd like Lee, Hamels, Happ and someone good.

Ruben was very decisive in the move. Hope it's based on a determination of his pitching abilities rather than a personality problem...

I am on only going by the projected 2010 payroll they threw out there, It doesn't sound like there is a lot left for a decent pitcher let alone a big name pitcher. My choice would be to pay a Lackey or someone like him and keep Feliz. I would rather spend on another good pitcher and hope Feliz has one more year in him. We could have a good rotation if Happ, Hamels, Joe,and Moyer, KK or Drabeck have good years. We could also have a very bad year. One injury to Lee or Cole and we are out of the division. I don't want to have to depend on the Pedro's, Moyers and the KK's and hope they have great years to win a division. A little stability would be nice in the rotation for a few years while our core is all still here.

We're starting to lose our 'personality players'. No offense to Lee and Ibanez (at least not in the formers case) but those two our about as charismatic as wooden stools |

Chase is the one with the least personality:) Only thing that counts is how their personalities mesh with each other.

Myers had soem personality, but lacked character. He was a gamer, but had health issues. He was not a good return on their investment. You can't throw good money after bad. |
