| Why bother blowing our load on a starting pitcher now when there really isn't any good ones as free agents anyway? We also have to see which Hamels shows up next year anyway. We have enough pitching to get us to the deadline vs the NL. There is always good starters available at the deadline and this way we only have to pay half their salary for the year anyway. |

Now & Later Get one now. Get another one later. Gotta win the division first. Need some insurance in case a couple of these guys get hurt or cannot sustain previous levels of performance (Hamels, Happ). |

| We had pathetic pitching for most of last season and we still won the division. Lee isn't going to suck next year. We didn't have him to start the year. |

You never finish with the same 5 guys. Myers and Park were opening day starters. Happ was in the pen. Moyer and Blanton were solid for us this year. At one point Moyer had the most wins. Blanton's ERA was great after the All-Star Game. If you find the right guy, you could be set. |

| That's my point. We start the season with Lee, Hamels, Happ, Blanton, Moyer, Kendrick etc....At the dead line we look for a boost like Lee for a lot less money since we wont be singing him to a new contract, at least right away. |

So, no acquisition in the SP area. That might work, but I am concerned about Moyer's recovery and Kendrick's ability to contribute.

| No I'm not saying that at all. I'm saying what is available right now is not worth the price. We should save a little money until the deadline and then trade for a quality pitcher to go a long with Lee and Hamels. Maybe Drabek is dealing by then anyway? We wouldn't have to pay the pitchers full salary. What if a Brandon Webb is available via trade for cheap in July? |

| I would take a flier on Ben Sheets or Rich Harden. Get Beltre, Scuttaro and another bench guy. Then pick up a good 8th or 9th inning guy (Martizez, Putz), along with a another cheap arm in the pen. I would do all short term deals. But I think we need some kind of arm to start, then go after someone. |

| I agree about guys like Harden and Sheets because they have nasty stuff when healthy. We already have our ace so we can be picky. |

| Pauli - you are making far too much sense today...has the WS loss affected you in a strange way? |

| Honestly, this is the best time to be a Phillies fan. We may have lost to the Empire but we still clearly have the best team in the NL. |

| The Phils have Drabek in the minors. I would trade Hamels. "Redneck, White Socks, And Blue Ribbon Beer"...Hank Thompson. |

Step into my office and have a seat. Now - how do you really feel about that? Have you always felt this way? What makes you think that everyone hates you? |

I know everyone does NOT hate me, but I have a gang of losers on this board that love to report me. But, I also have a crew of people that enjoy me. |
