Please. Stop blaming the Phillies losing on the fact of the payroll of the NY Yankees. The Yankees pitchers had to go to bat in the National League home park, where in the National League, the pitchers normally hit as opposed to using a DH. When the National League team comes to the AL home park, they can put in whoever they want in the DH. Why don't they continue to use their pitchers to bat? duhhh maybe that's why they lost. When Pedro is seen shaking hands with A-Rod before the game started, and he's being chummy with all of the Yankees players, what could they be talking about? maybe about where the party is taking place after the game perhaps? The Phillies took home advantage away from the Yanks when they took game 1, but blew it at home. They lost. They stunk.

| Can't say the money didn't help either. When you can get the best FA every year you should be winning a WS every year. |

I didn't know the Yanks played for free. Their payroll HAS to be taken into consideration or they wouldn't have the highest payroll in the game. You bought a WS...there's no shame in that. It's called captitalism. |

Phillies did what they were supposed to do. Play em tough. Win some lose some. Yankees have been choking for the last few years and are finally off the shnide. Yankees spent an enormous amount of money and it paid off this year. |

I KNEW that user name looked familiar. At the rate the Leafs are going they'll be lucky if their point total matches the Yankees' World Series championship total."You know, I'm sick of following my dreams, man. I'm just going to ask where they're going and hook up with 'em later." -- Mitch Hedberg THE PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES: YOUR 2008 WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONS!!!!!! THE WAIT FOR A WINNER IS FINALLY OVER! |

Something that pisses me off more than the yanks.....people who say payroll is an excuse. This team would be one of the worst teams in baseball if they couldn't afford Arod, Tex, CC, Burnett, Damon like any other team to name a few. Get your head out of your a**. This is not a real team and ny should have nothing to be proud of. Too be honest, it is completely sad that its taken this long to win another ws with their payroll. That being said, we did lose fair as far as the play goes.

| Yes he is. It's so sad to see these people who have no joy in their life. You want to feel something for them but then they try to rub in something just to be vaginas, well, that just closes up the empathy shop. If I saw him dying on the street I'd feel compelled to urinate on him. |

the yanks do live in a differnt world...i mean they literally bought their top 2 starters in the offseason and prolly added the best all around first baseman in texeria...add that to A rod , damon and matsui and yes you have the best team money can buy... the better team won but to say the payroll had nothing to do with it is crazy... |

| So when you guys beat the Rays, the payroll had nothing to do with it either? Your team salary is double then the rays! You can't have it both ways people? In addition, during this decade, there were 7 different winners, which include the small market Marlins. Sounds like balance to me. If the Yankees had run 7 straight, then you have something there. But having a large salary helps, yes, but it doesn't guarantee you much. Why don't you ask the Mets, Boston, Detroit, both Chi-town teams that very question? Do we have more money, yes. However, George Steinbrenner brought the Yankees back in 1973 for 10 million dollars. He used his own money from his shipping business to help build that team in the 70's. The 80's where horrible. There were many players that were using the Yankees to get better deals else where. Then the Early 90's was even worst. However, the Yankees finally started producing home grown talent and making key trades, and things started to take place. The Yankees laid out a blue print for other clubs to follow which is start your own cable channel which other teams are doing like the Red sox’s and Mets to name a few. The Kansas city owner and Twins owners, are by far the riches owners in all of baseball. However, they run their teams like a business and don't care to spend the money on their product, which is sad. You want a Cap, well have a cap for those mid-market team to at least spend a minimum of 60 million, and stop pocketing the 40 million plus they receive each year in revenue sharing. But like I said in previous post, there is no way in hell the Players Association will ever agree to Salary cap. Baseball makes wayyyyy tooo much money overall for that to happen. |

>>>>>So when you guys beat the Rays, the payroll had nothing to do with it either?<<<<< The payroll had PLENTY to do with it. We acknowledge it, you all don't want to. Besides we figured any team that would beat out the Yanks and Boston was a worthy opponenent considering the bankrolls of those two franchises. |

| Hey without the Yanks FA signings this year-Tex,AJ and CC would they have won the series-Hell know. Yanks FA signings-AJ,CC,Tex,Andy,A-Rod all top FA. Phils FA signings-Ibanez! Most either came up through the minors or trades. Yanks did buy this sereis and so it is tainted!!! |
