If Joe is anything more than a #5 next year, Rube's ain't doing his job.

And if Drabek does get off to a hot start in AAA, we should not hesitate to call him up in 2010 and move Blanton to the pen.

Agreed. He had a decent WS last season and that's about it. He should not be starting on a WS roster.

Where do you see Moyer in this scenario?

If you can only bring back one of joe, pedro, or brett, who do you want?

blanton is better than that, he has performed well under pressure and is a solid additon o the phil's rotation.

Moyer needs to be home taking care of his 7 kids.

Brett. He'll be healthy for the first time since 2007 and he'll have something to prove. Pedro's been great, but there's no need to milk that cow any longer.

On the Yankees, Blanton would be an innings eater. We need to raise our standards.

So we raise our standards by keeping Brett and letting Joe go???????? Sorry don't see that one. For 3 months Joe pitched as well as Lee, CC and Santana. I would hardly call him just an innings eater. He is also only 30. Take away his first 2 months and his states are right up there with some of the best.,

His career numbers are average. Patty. He should be our 5th starter next season. I like the guy because he's so low maintenance though.

if so , we need to raise the payroll. I think a rotation next year of lee, hamels, blanton, happ and pedro/drabek/kendrick/moyer would be pretty good, but I'd like to skip moyer, he gets hammered too often.

I would bring back myers as a 7th inning guy/backup closer but only for a major pay cut.

Is that rotation good enough to shut down the Yankees? It hasn't been so far this season, so we might want to upgrade.

A healthy Myers could be a very good SP, worthy of starting in the postseason against quality teams like the Yankees.

Blanton had about as good a season as he'll ever have and he was still out of his league against the Yankees.

Ii think this rotation would shut down the yankees
1. bob gibson in his prime
2. steve carlton in his prime
3. pedro martinez in his prime
4. sandy koufax in his prime

Bullpen set up
mike marshall
randy johnson lefty specialist
bruce suter
eric gagne on roids and

closer
mariani rivera

realistically, the phils staff is pretty good if hamels pitches up to snuff.

Somone's gonna offer Pedro a 2 year deal, and we'll be smart enough to not mathc it.

you're probably right. Pedro can probably only pitch 150 inning a year but he had had some real effective starts. I really want to bring park back, but only as a reliever.

Park as a setup man would be great.

I agree that health is the big question mark right now with Myers. His velocity has been down a while and even his nasty curve has deserted him. But if healthy and in the right mindset I would like him back at a reduced salary.

Myers's upside is too high to not give him a chance.
