LINCOLN, Neb. -- The mother of New York Yankees pitcher Joba Chamberlain faces up to 20 years in prison on a felony drug-sale charge. The Lincoln Journal Star reported Tuesday that Jackie Standley pleaded no contest Monday to delivery of a controlled substance in Lincoln, Neb. Sentencing is set for Dec. 16, pending a recommendation from a drug and alcohol treatment center. Lincoln police say the 44-year-old Standley was arrested in May after selling a gram of methamphetamine to an undercover officer at her Lincoln apartment. The Yankees play Game 6 of the World Series against Philadelphia on Wednesday. Joba the Hutt had a DUI not all that long ago on the way home from a strip club. Chugging Crown Royal from the bottle while behind the wheel. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

Joba is estranged from his mom, should have no impact on his performance.

And it is sad no matter who's mom it may be. I would have to feel bad for both, estranged or not.

I don't know... its certainly a sad situation to see someone make bad choices that lead to life-altering consequences, but I won't go as far as to say "I feel bad" for her. Sure, feel bad for those that didn't have a choice in how it played out, but feeling bad for the person that willfully broke the law and endangered others? Not I. Anyhow, I really wish this story had broken before today. Would have been interesting to see the crowd react to Joba entering the game with this information public. |

It's weird that meth-heads usually don't have jobs. What do they do with all of that extra energy? - rearrange their sock drawer, clean the bottom of their kitchen chairs?

Definitely not funny. I hate the Yankees, but I'm not using something like this as fodder. Go Phillies - Ya gotta believe!!! High Hopes for a Phillies World Series repeat! Chris Pronger is a Flyer! Emery & Laperriere are Flyers! Stanley Cup, here we come!

I think Joba's dad is an Native American and unfortunately there often is a lot of drug and alcohol abuse in these families. Joba looked like he was going to cry after he gave up the tying home run a couple nights ago.
