| I went to bed last night less confident that we could take 3 in a row. They got the tying run up twice after trailing by 6. However, I woke up today thinking ' wow, we can do this'. If we can win game 6, pressure is all on Yankers. Please Pedro, shut them down. Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner. |

| I would love to see it happen, but let's be honest for a minute. They almost blew a 6 run lead going into the 8th innings w/ their ace starting the game. Just keep that in mind considering Pedro Martinez is pitching tomorrow. |

I've already congratulated my friends that are Yankee fans. I've already accepted the fact that our boys lost to a better baseball team. No shame in losing to a stacked 208 million dollar payroll. I'm just glad they didn't celebrate on our field. That would have really sucked.

| They need to score a ton against Pettitte. A tie game going into the 7th, they could have problems. |

| Over/under line on Pettite/Posada mound meetings is 87. That is a guy very uncomfortable with his current stuff. They cannot let him off the hook again. They must destroy him and hope this wretched bullpen can hold on. |

| That is why I think the only way for us to win this is like yesterday continue to batter them, batter the starter, batter their pen and get there first and batter their pen later as well. We must also like last night get a good game by our starter to hold them down to start with. But keep in mind Lee was very human looking last night and I think Pedro thinks this could be the last game he pitches in his life, he could put everything into and it is not an accident that he is pitching well he has good stuff and mixes it up well. |

you should congratulate them on failing to nail down a ws victory when they had the chance. almost blew a 6 run lead? i think not. what you saw last night was the yankees in a late inning panic to undo the horrible mistake made by their manager. that was their last chance to win the ws. now all they have left is a worn out, mediocre pettite and a worn out, not too bad but very familiar cc. pitching burnett last night was the stupid act of a desperate man. if we go to ny and face a healthy and rested burnett followed by sabathia and pettite, i would reckon we would have no shot. but strange as this may sound, i see the phils having a huge advantage now. girardi out managed himself and underestimated the phils ability to rebound from what should have been a devastating loss on sunday. |

| Absloutely ridiculous post saying Girardi was desperate pitching AJ on three days rest. They've gone thru the entire playoffs with three starters with zero issue. Went into Philly and took control of the series by taking two out of three when Philly was talking three game sweep at home. Burnett gets hit last night and Philly squeezes out a win with the Yanks knocking on the door again in the ninth. Now Philly has to sweep the Yankees on the road where they have both Posada and Matsui back in the lineup. Who's pitching if it goes seven? Do the Phillies havre anyone who wants to take the ball? Philly's not really showing much to anyone outside of Chase and Lee. Manuel is being out-managed and Philly players have looked like they've been ready to spit the bit several times (Damon-Feliz-Lidge play was embarrassing. Girardi and Yanks desperate? Give me a break. |

i put those 4 runs on charlie. Lee should have never been put out there in the 8th. he should have put in Park. Lee was gassed, already at what? 107 pitches, and Park seems to always let the bases clear when he comes in with men on. had he just put in park, i think we would have skated smoothly into the 9th. then he could have pitched anyone he wanted to. furthermore.. replacing Victorino with Francisco in center, thus keeping Ibanez in Left was not a sound defensive move. |

i don't think it was a *bad* move by girardi. however, i think he was betting the pot and got caught on the river. we'll see, that one still needs to play out. all 3 of those yanks pitchers have good stats on short rest. well, maybe *had* is a better word for burnett now. the only real question mark is pettitte. he was totally gassed after his last start and he's now 37 y/o. i think he's prime for a shelling. with CC, the guy is a horse. he'll probably pitch well, but, they will probably only get about 4 innings out of him. but, if we make it that far, to gm7... both teams are in the same boat. they'll throw every pitcher out there. |

| If Girardi wasn't desperate why didn't he pitch Gaudin in Game 5? In an interview with Francesa before the series he said he wasn't sure with what he was going to do. He had four games to figure it out and he decided to pitch AJ in Game 5. You mean to tell me you would rather pitch a tired pitcher instead of somebody with a fresh arm, giving your other starters another two days of rest if you didn't win Game 5? But then you could say...but the Yankees would have lost if they started Gaudin. It doesn't matter now they lost starting AJ. Now your whole starting pitching staff is shelled and is pitching on fumes. If this isn't desperation by Girardi then I really don't know what is. |

It is, realistically our best hope: that Andy is fatigued and hit hard tomorrow and CC has cumulative fatigue and is shelled in game 7. I think Pedro will give us 7 very good innings again tomorrow and chase will give us 3 or 4. Pray we put up enough runs so that Durbin, Madson, Myers, Eyre and Park can hold the line in the latter innings. Lift Lidge after he allows ONE baserunner. |

| I guess it worked out well. But it was clear that this was an organizational strategy from the start, not a slapdash Giradi decision made on the fly.. I'm surprised that Manuel didn't pitch Lee on three days--might have been a different series outcome than just giving up the Blanton game and putting Philly in a hole it never got out of. Had also to do with the Yankees knowing they had good arms in the bullpen to shorten anyone's outing if needed. We know Pettite very well in NY as a very smart guy and knew he'd be able to go a quality six. Philly didn't ever really seem to have a clear picture that there are no give-away games in the WS. |
