| He was the biggest hero this town has had in 30 years and is going to have a great MLB career and because we're a dumbass city we're gonna piss it away. |

| I agree with you but he has said some pretty dumb things over the last couple press conferences. Not excusing some of our fans behavior but he has thrown some fuel onto the fire. |

| Nay. He is still well loved by the fanbase. If you read carefully, only a handful of people are constantly beating the dead horse on this board. Hamels is not the same pitcher this season. We can only hope he can come back stronger than ever. If that doesn't happen, we can start grilling the guy. He's earned at least that much. |

I agree with both you an the OP. but, he will be a great pitcher again. there's no way to quantify the WS hangover until we see how he rebounds next year. he's said some stupid things, but he's young. let's not run him out just yet. |

I think Cole Hamels has worn out his welcome here and it is time to send him on his way like we have Eric Lindros, Charles Barkley and AI before him. Hamels' just has a poor attitude and I think the Phillies would be better off dealing him for a solid infielder (a solid 3rd baseman or Catcher would be a nice addition). I think we could deal Cole to the Colorado Rockies for Garrett Atkins and one of their solid prospects. The Rockies have a good young Catching prospect named Wilin Rosario: Wilin Rosario Born 2/23/1989 (20 years old) C, COL A real sleeper in the Colorado system, Dominican catcher Wilin Rosario was signed as an IFA with little fanfare last year. He went on to destroy the Pioneer League (.316/.371.532) at the age of 19, the best performance by a PL catcher since Russell Martin's debut. He looks like he will have the acumen and temperment to handle a pitching staff, and his catch-and-throw skills are developing rapidly. If he can remain a catcher, he could be a top prospect very soon, and it's hard not to drool a little thinking about his bat reaching Coors Field in 2013 or so.

| Atkins will be non-tendered. You can have him for free. You do not give away talent for free. Hamels will rebound next year and someone will advise him on avoiding press conference foot-in-mouth disease. |

EVERY team in the league would love to have Hamels on their staff. So, Phillies are the only team who don't want him? He's not going anywhere.... Trade a proven 25 year old lefthanded starter? He had a down year.... get over it..... |

This board exaggerates the number of numbskulls who want to "get rid of Hamels", "get rid of Howard", etc. Just ignore them, or call them out as the nitwits they are. "We know what our job is." Jimmy Rollins, 10/19/09 |

Dude face it! Cole Hamels is a good looking Kyle Kendrick who only has one good pitch. Everyone in the mlb has figured this out. He presses to use a secondary pitch (a curveball) which may be the worst curveball in all of baseball. End of story. He will never finish a season in the majors with an ERA under 3.80 again |

As i posted on another Chat In the off seasxon Phils will lose Myers and probably Blanton both RH pitchers. Hamels, Lee, Happ and Moyer is a little too LH. I would try and trade Hamels for Halladay. Phils have money to pay him from Myers, Blanton and Hamels money. Jays get a good pitcher without a high price tag. Next years starters could be Halladay, Lee, Happ, Martinez and either Moyer or Drabek/another youngster......

First, if I learned one thing in baseball, it's never give up on a left-hander, they are just flakes (see Steve Carlton). However, unless Hamels changes his attitude, he will not be a success here. He had ALL season to try and develop a 3rd pitch and he has apparently refused to listen to those trying to help him. His childlike behavior when confronted with the results is AA. So if he leaves, I will not cry. Are we chasing him out - give me a break he's doing it himself. At this point in his career - he is NO Sabathia..........bmcw The problem with people who have no vices is that generally you can be pretty sure they're going to have some pretty annoying virtues. - Elizabeth Taylor Somebody has to do something, and it's just incredibly pathetic that it has to be us. - Jerry Garcia |

| Hamels' stats this year are, in my opinion, due to the great increase in innings that Hamels had last year. He will be fine. He does need to develop another pitch. But, he will be fine. I think he will win 18 - 20 games next year. |

With just two years on his contract and coming off a bad year, he will not bring back fair value in a trade. Cole is a good competitor-but he does not handle adversity well. Hopefully, he'll mature with this experience. I look for him to come back re-energized and in better shape in 2010, and have a 16-10, 3.50 ERA type of year |

We're not a dumbass city, your boy Hamels is a spoiled, pampered pansy. He complains about the weather, his food, his hair, etc. He has a butler, dietician, chiropractor, etc. The team treats him like a silent film primadonna. He makes bad pitches then jumps around and screams at teammates when they make an error. He claims he is "tired" because he pitched a lot of innings last year. Lee pitched more innings last year and this year--do you see him complaining? Hamels had a nice year last year, fine. But he is not a Philly-type pitcher. He whines like a girl, bitches about everything, and blames his teammates for his own stupid choice of pitches. Trade him for a gutsy pitcher with balls (someone like Cliff Lee. Just hand him the ball every five days and he goes out and pitches like a deomon: no complaints, no whiining, no valets, hair stylists, butlers, etc.) Hamels is a spoiled California guy---so, send him there. Enough of these pansy players who make statements like "I can't wait for this season to be over," while in the middle of a World Series!!! What a selfish, childish jerk-off. |
