I recently discovered as I drove past the last piece of open land in my township that something was up. A small sign was posted - it was completely illegible without stopping & getting out of my car.

The owners of this property will be clear cutting a large section of it & replacing it with 598 sprawl houses. So that is an additional 1,000+ cars in our immediate vicinity, and perhaps as many children added to our schools. The zoning hearing was at 4:30 PM today - a peculiar time that no working person can attend.

I realize that this is development is going to happen, however, I want to be sure that our town's overwhelmingly Republican inhabitants are reminded come school tax time that their increase will be due in large part to this development. It is so unbelievable that this sort of behavior passes as OK. Signs that could not possibly made smaller, & meetings held at the convenience of the supervisors rather than it's people.

I am not against non-sprawl development - but this head in the sand, look the other way while I cash the check behavior is what got us into the financial mess we're in now & will have disastrous results on our ecology in the near future.
