| Whatever happened to cleaning up where you live? Remember the days when people would get together on the blocks of Philadelphia on Saturday mornings to sweep the streets and scrub the white steps? Well I do. I was a kid back then, but I remember the togetherness and pride. People had fun too. It's crazy how much trash is blowing around the streets of the city. And although I've seen this same thing in New Jersey and Delaware, I live here, and here is where I'm concerned about. I get tired of cleaning in front of my house and yours, because you don't clean in front of yours. It takes everyone working together to keep the streets clean. Along with city sanitation, who are slacking on the job by the way. Do they even come down the streets with the big sweepers anymore like they once did? I don't know because I never ever see them doing that anymore. It's much different in South Philadelphia than it is in NE Philadelphia. The streets in South Philadelphia are quite dirty. That wasn't so in the NE. I saw the street sweepers in the NE often, and many people sweeping up in front of their homes. Philadelphia should enforce the litter laws like New Jersey does. Not just putting up "$300 fine" warning signs about it like they do with the dog pooping signs. People don't even pay attention to those. They still let their spoiled dogs poop on your property. Well, there's no one around to issue the fine to them is there? Nope, sure isn't. So their pampered pooches are free to poop wherever they want to. Let's get it like it used to be people. Isn't this city talked about enough already? The sports teams, crime, dirt, etc, etc. Don't you care about where you live? Let's show them that we all do. |
