No gender bias there, Nancy. Marilynn was the subject of the story. The others were not.

Even though Marilynn was the subject of the article, you showed her picture twice. Why was her age relevant?

I believe that age is relevant to the story because it is one of the ways that our society identifies people, along with the town in which they live, what they do for a living, etc. Thus, I think it belongs in a feature story that serves as a "profile" of a person. ... As to your point about the photos, not everyone who reads this story will see the photos, especially if other Web sites pick up the story. The other day, I did find one site that had the story, but not the photos. ... Finally, I infer from your postings that you think adding her age had a negative impact on the story. I don't think that's the case at all. She should be proud of her age, as well as proud of what she has accomplished.

Thanks for the reply. No, I don't think that her age had a negative impact on the story. My only concern was that when asked her age, she didn't want to give it, but the reporter didn't take NO for an answer. And I also do not think that would have happened if the subject were a man.
