| After all a while all the excercise in the world didn't help me lose weight. I was doing 1-2 hrs of cardio per day (eliptical trainer & recumbent bike) and couldn't shed those last 10-15 lbs. I realized that I had to quit crap food cold turkey. Went on mostly vegetable diet, cut out desserts, and bread only in the morning. Felt better, energy levels went through the roof, lost weight and began looking better. Of course it took two weeks of hell. I had to get used to not eating crap food. Felt like a withdrawal from drugs or alcohol - moodiness, sweats, insomnia...but after two weeks it was all worth it. |

Make sure 90% of the liquid you drink is plain WATER. Have a day set aside for sodas. Breakfast, shreaded wheat, skim (nonfat) milk. Lots of fruits. If you go to the basement of the Gallery near the Radio Shack, you'll see a fruit stand that sells a nice fruit smothee called "Tropical Passion". AWESOME. The banana makes it taste like a milkshake. Theres a nice smoothie store in the Liberty Place cafeteria too. Also, eat at Subway :). Lots of lowfat selections. Lots of salads. If you want meat, skinless chicken breast on your salads or Subway sandwich (about 2-3 times a week). Put aside ONE day a week where you throw all the rules out the window and pig out :). Fried Chicken, cheesesteak, have at it. But the important thing is to make sure your cravings have been COMPLETELY SATISFIED the day, so you dont want that stuff until next week. So you dont want to try a meatloaf platter and throw half of it away because you didn't like it :). You want to feel completely full after pig-out day. After that, get back to the lowfat stuff to burn off the pig-out-day food in about 2 days. |

If eating only a sparse diet of vegetables and carbohydrates, spending hours daily doing strenuous exercise and drinking nothing but water is considered the epitome of healthy living, Why are people in third-world countries starving to death by the tens of thousands? I have a feeling that the American ideal of "healthy living" is nothing but a fiction. |

| Because they aren't getting the drinking water, vegetables or carbohydrates. |
