Oh man :)...they got these new machines, and they're a WONDERFUL improvement on the old green console. First of all, your numbers are printed out in extreme bold lettering, as opposed to the faded print of the old machine. An almost blind man can read this bold print. Secondly, the machine reads your cards flawlessly, and its rare that the clerk has to re-insert it. It makes things quicker when you have a lot of numbers.

There's just ONE thing :)...some of the clerks just...aren't made for this new high technology :). You're playing a number, and you want it played on a CERTAIN DAY...its a BIG DEAL, that number has to be played on THAT day! So you tell 'em what day, and they STILL give you the wrong day because they dont know how to fully operate the new machines :D! Three things can happen then. They either make you pay for ticket on THEIR mistake, they simply keep the ticket and re-do it and give you the RIGHT friggin' day, or they ask you why you dont want it for this day :D!

Then there's the ones who are sharp and know what they're doing! So I've learned with these new machines...ONLY go to the highly skilled clerks who know the machines. STAY AWAY from the guy that barely speaks english :D!!!!!

What's a Lotto?

I can't remember the last time I wasted a dollar on it.

The lottery came to Tennessee about six years ago. They have donated over a billion dollars to the state's education programs. For those who qualify they will pay for their college. My wife and I do not play regularly but sometimes we will buy $20 worth of $2 scratch offs. Last year we hit a $2 Golden 7's ticket for $2,000. We had to go to the TN Lottery place in Knoxville to claim the money because anything worth over $500 can't be paid locally. We had to pay income tax on the two grand on this year's IRS forms. We were just doing it because of their contributions to education but now we're so far ahead we can play the same way we were for three or four more years using their money.

Hey Barney....I would've taken the $2000 and donated it to a good charity and gotten a nice write off. Is it just fiscally conservative independents like myself that only think like that? Why wouldn't you donate the $2K to a good charity? Many LIBS(not all) like yourself are not all that charitable for some reason.

Because I've been deciding how I want to spend my money since I was making about $3.50 a week carring the morning paper in 1944. I don't need any advise and if I did I damn sure wouldn't come your way.

Well see now that is part of your problem. And future fyi, my advice is free! But that was a typical response from a greedy, uncharitable LIB like yourself....what a greedy money-grubber you are!!!

I just have to say that in all my 63 years neither I or my husband have ever purchased any type of gambling ticket. Actually, we don't even know how or where to go about it. Is it fun?

It's almost as difficult as falling off a log. Ask the clerk for 10 2$ scratch off tickets, hand him/her the 20 dollars when he/she hands you the tickets...read the instructions on the tickets. Scratch off the designated places on the face of the tickets and see if you won anything. On average you will get back about half of what you paid but it IS gambling. Once in a while you score big...that's what it's all about.

It's a lot more fun than watching TV. LOL!!!
