Having lost a dear loved one who stormed Normandy and fought in the Battle of the Bulge and helped liberate the concentration camps, and as a friend of several vets of the current conflicts, I just wanted to take a moment and urge us all to not let this veterans day (11/11) go by without at least a moment's thought, reflection, meditation or prayer in the direction of these folks.

Regardless of whether or not we agree with the conflicts (and granted, some are hard to find fault with) these men and women are there laying it all on the line.

Thank you for your bravery.

Amen.

I'm going to the Eagles Game on Sunday and they'll be honoring our military for Veterans Day. I can't wait to applaud them for all of their efforts.

Two videos that I find touching/amazing:

PhilaFlyer:

Thanks for sharing the videos..the Bud one does bring to tears to eyes...I hope the current vets don't get the Vietnam treatement. It is also makes me glad there are USO stations at the airports! These folks deserve a big welcome.

Best,

Howie

yeah, I wip up a few tears every time...it's short and simple, without anyone talking...

I think they originally aired it a few years ago but they put it on sometimes around Veterans Day/Memorial Day...maybe you'll see it on tv over the next week?

I mean, they flip those rifles around and throw/catch them like they're nothing. No 'flinching' or anything.

As a vet, thanks. As a Veterans Service Officer, I know this is appreciated.

As a vet, I wish more wisdom was used when deploying us.

As a vet, there should be much less of us, if we followed the above.

If there were less of us, there would be less suffering.

If there were less of us, you would be richer.

If there would be less of us, you would worry less about your children.

Just remember, if we treated the rest of our world better, using our power for EARLY assistance, we wouldn't have or need so many veterans. Aggressive actions are a result of bad diplomacy. Early application of wisdom is the key to eliminating a massive standing army. Remember a large standing army becomes less and less controllable by civilians. They can start to serve their own purposes.

We weren't made veterans by accidents, but by design.

How did these plans help you and yours?

As to my fellow veterans-for many this was their best deal, especially if they became lifers. These folks became no more than mercenaries.

Don't get too overwhelmed by the Star Spangled Banner, but hum along to America the Beautiful. It's a much better tune in every way.

Vote those sentiments.

Great post and thanks for remembering the veterans.

As someone who is ex-military but never saw combat I appreciate the sacrifices the veterans made for all Americans.

The Budweiser commercial is awesome, all we can do is thank all of the men and women who fought in all of the wars.
No matter how bad life is or can be, I just remember it could be worse if I were a Leaf fan.
