Greetings: Well, we beat up on two of the weaker franchises; game against the Sabres and Ruff (not one of my favorites) should be interesting. Whenever we go up against these guys I think of: 1) Fog at their arena during Cup II; and 2) The 8-1 (I think) slaughter that led to Hitch and Clarke's departure. Those are interesting bookends. Lifetime we play well against them, particularly at home: http://www.flyershistory.com/cgi-bin/opponent.cgi?Buffalo_Sabres Historically--they were run and gun in the early days, then Hasek/D, and now a mix. For me--this is a benchmark test. Best, Howie |

Hey Howie, Should be a real tough test for the guys in O & B!! Miller, seems to be back on his game and playing well. They are off to a good start (9-2-1)and playing well thus far. 3 - 0 shutout of the Devils last night (Wed 11/4) "I have ways of making money that you know nothing of."

I agree. Not so much because of the Sabres (although they are playing well) but because of Ryan Miller. He is fantastic when healthy and he seems to be on now. So we will be going against a top tier goalie and that will tell us if we've turned the corner. All too often we hear we had shots on goal but the goalie was hot. I agree, goals are going to be harder to come by with Miller in net.

Agreed. I was thinking the same thing yesterday..big test on the road against a team that has started very strong. We will need Emery to play well. I am less worried though because the almighty Betts is playing.. Nice psot Howie, you're the best...LOL Orange and Black attack. You've just been Pronged! |

| Ya, let's see where we really stand. This is a good fast team with maybe the hottest goalie in the league right now. You have to respect a team that can't afford to keep it's top stars, loses them for absolutely nothing, then reloads and come right back at you. Hats off to that organization. el Capitan Cannonista |

Very true Howie. We got to pick on a few sub par teams and now we get to see where we stand against a good team. Oh yeah and this is for you Howie http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uvzp32zYtCY "The Devil chooses the jury as the following: John Wilkes Booth, Lizzie Borden, John Dillinger, Blackbeard, Benedict Arnold and the starting lineup of the 1976 Philadelphia Flyers"

Hello Howie, I always think of Freddy "the fog" Shero and the cup finals that year too when we play the Sabres, good memories. I wish the Sabres would bring back that original uniform too. They don't score a lot of goals, but they don't allow a lot of goals either, so with Miller in net will be a good test for the offence. I am looking forward to the game though, hopefully we will see the effort that the Flyers put in the last couple of games. The best way to remember something is to forget it |

Hello Again! I think one of the real "problems" over the past 2-3 years is our relatively bad performance against the >.500 teams. We have feasted on the SE and the weaklings but don't perform against the elite. Our GAA is close to 2.50, something I thought would be critical if we were moving in the right direction. Now we have to see if, as my dad says, we can raise our hind legs and pee with the big dogs. LGF and best, Howie |

I agree with you Howie we have been peating up on garbage teams lately and havent won anything yet. The Gaybres will be a good test especially in their barn as their fans hate us the way we hate the Pens. (In fact they really hate Emery too and will be on him all night). The Gaybres have given up the least number of goals in the league and high powered Philly offense teams usually wilt under that kind of situation (See Flyers vs Devils/Gaybres 90's and early 00's). It will be a great win for us if we can pull it off. I am still not convinced by this team though.l GCOBB changes everything |

Hey Howie, I've been waiting for this game since the 4-2 loss to the caps!! I put little to no stock in the fact that we beat up on teams like Carolina and Tamp bay! Especially when they're starting their back-ups for the first time this season (Carolina) and smith had a horrible game!! GREAT to see Nitty on the ice in Philly though....always liked Nitty and thought he was a good back-up....MUCH better than Boosh I'm afraid but we'll see. At least we have a sure #1 goalie this year and not trying to split the season between 2 backups (biron/nitty)... I agree that this game will be a big measuring stick although I would like to see us with a bit more of a stable, healthy lineup....even if Danny ends up playing, I have a feeling he and others won't be looking so sharp either due to flu or lower body injuries!! Let's see if Carter and Richards are indeed ready to run with this team! Also hoping for continued success from JVR and even Lallibertie (sp?)....Thank god it's hockey season again and GO FLYERS!!! |

Hello Howie, I think it's safe to say we are on the right track, 3 good efforts in a row (outscoring our opponenents 17-5) 5 goals against the top defensive team in the league, all even strength goals. A good disciplined effort by everyone. I am liking Carcillo on the 4th line. We are the right track, the trick is to stay on the right track. The best way to remember something is to forget it |

Nice to see the boys beat a good team for a change instead of just beating up on leaf like teams for wins. I know philly has a lot of players with the flu but i was wondering maybe same with Sabres as many teams are hit with this nasty bug. I guess with most teams having the piggy flu and after a win against a non leaf like team - doesnt have me setting up the parade quite yet. Greetings: This was a good effort; I hope we don't let up. I think AM is a good coach; so far the Blues look like we did a few weeks ago. Will Emery get the start? I almost hope tht Boosh gets tested soon. We need to know if he is up to carrying the team if needed. Peace, Howie |
