I've been a huge Gagne supporter throughout his career. I have been in favor of keeping him as a Flyer his entire career. But, I am getting real tired of these Gagne injuries year after year it seems recently. It's not like he plays a physical game like Richards, Hartnell or Powe. Has he gotten soft or what? 6-8 weeks without Gagne is huge! I like the fact that it opens up more minutes for JVR and Giroux though. I don't remember Gagne being so soft in his early years. He's only 29 so what's up with this guy? And Briere, I will give him 2 chances this year. It appears that he may be able to go Friday but if he starts with this in and out of the lineup all year, that will absolutely piss me off. It's a shame because he looked fabulous to start this season. His skating was visibly faster than any year with the Flyers thus far, he was putting up some points and even making some solid hits, or as solid as one can get at his size. Anyone know the deal with Laliberte? He looked solid Saturday. Does this guy have potential? Never knew much about him and I figured Kaspar or Nodl would have gotten the call up. Any links to scouting reports or projections of stats of Laliberte's past would be nice if anyone has. Go Phils!

One benefit of Gagne's injuries is that it give the flyers cap space.

Also, he hasn't been injured for playoffs games, which is what really matters.

I would like to see half of us play at an NHL level and see if we don't get a dinged up and hurt.

I'd just like all these guys who think everyone in hockey should fight to watch just one game sober.

Well thats a true statement but look at guys like Carter, Knuble, Hartnell Richards, and Timonen. Timonen mostly is an amazement. Dude gets drilled all year, espcecially in playoffs, and is not injury prone. Come one too man, gagne has been hurt year after year after year. He's a little soft

<<" gagne has been hurt year after year after year. He's a little soft">>

He has only played less than 50 games twice in his 10 year pro career due to injury.

46 games in 02-03 not sure what the nature of the reason he was out for so many games??

Then due to head injury 07-08 just 25 games.

Not exactly a 'soft' player year after year due to injury.
He doesn't play the game like a physical presence and it's not his game to play it that way.

IIRC, 02-03 was a groin injury

It is now clear to me that HOmer will make no attempt to resign Gagne next year.

He may make attempts to trade him this year.

I love Simon. I love that he's been so good for so long.

I loved the way he played last year and the way he would probably be playing this year if he were healthy.

I'm tired of the injuries, but to be honest, I'm pretty sure simon is even more tired of them.

root for your team and the players on the team. that's what i say.

Simon has given the fans pf Flyers hockey a great career thus far.

I'm cheering for him to get better and back on the ice for 25 2nd half goals!

Tired of Gagne injuries, how about tired of Briere injuries?

Briere, Gagne - both seemingly injured on a regular basis. What's the connection??? Hmmmm.....could it be the French in them??? We know how soft those Frenchies can be. Ha. I'm going to look for evidence of skating BACKWARDS on a regular basis just to confirm my suspicions.

Oh I root for him and would absolutely hate to see him go, and my post stating I was tired of his injuries was by no means a knock on the guy. I actually feel bad for him to but the past few years it seems it is one thing after another. Last year he was getting needles in his neck and he basically has been doing so much to stay healthy and if he corrects one injury case, another seems to come and bite him in the arse. I hope he gets these hernias corrected and gets back to his old self. Such a great player. I feel awful for him.

To expound on xlpizza's reply,
Simon Gagne:
99-00 80 gp missed 2
00-01 69 gp missed 13
01-02 79 gp missed 3
02-03 46 gp missed 36
03-04 80 gp missed 2
04-05 72 gp missed 10
05-06 76 gp missed 6
06-07 25 gp missed 57
08-09 79 gp missed 3

These were all 82 game seasons.
9 years @ 82 games = 738 games.
He's played in 606 games, ..missing 132. The bulk of those were in the 02-03 and 06-07 seasons (93 games). Not to shabby for a smallish (6 foot and under 200lbs) finesse player.
