I have to know the origin of this Leafs-Flyers thing on this board. When and where did this start? I ask because the Leafs are the sorriest collection of hockey players (and I use the term “hockey players” liberally here) that I’ve ever seen spanning close to a decade. That team is just wretched. How the hell does any Leaf fan muster the audacity to come on this board and criticize anything having to do with skates, pucks or sticks? It’s kind of like Richard Simmons saying he’s going to kick your arse. You don’t know whether to laugh at these cats or ask them to do something more constructive with their time.

To the fans of the mighty Leafs I say this: Stop wasting your time on our board and picket out front of your GM’s house demanding some monetary retribution for the horror show those turd burglars have put on over the last decade. Of course, you may want to stick a brown bag over your head so as not to be seen in public.

I have to post this here, too, because I know there will be Leaf fans reading this thread.

Philly has beat the Leafs at about a 2-1 ratio in the regular season since they joined the league. The playoffs have been worse, with the Leafs only winning one series, and even then they were totally outplayed. Cujo was phenominal, and Beezer was letting them in from all corners of the rink. Most Leaf fans therefore despise the Flyers.

I remember that series. Beezer couldn't cover his short side in that series. That series was so bad that it tarnished his legacy as a goaltender forever.

I think Philly allowed the fewest goals in a 6 game series at the time. But Beezers ability to let in backbreaking goals at just the right time cost them the series.

yeah but they gave us a run for our money in that '04 series. A lot of it was cheap shots from their goon-ish type players, but it was one tough series any way you look at it. Antropov especially threw some really questionable hits that series but he was by no means the only one. That whole team had a cheap-shot aura about them and I hated their guts. I knew we'd beat them but I wish it hadn't cost us so much physically.

I wonder how it would've gone against Tampa if we'd been able to wrap up that 2nd round series in 4 or 5 games. I think the beating we took prevented us from giving TB all we had, especially in game 7. Well, TB had something to do with it too of course!

I don't care one way or the other about the Leaves though I like Burke a lot. And as an Original Six team who've won their share of Stanley Cups they're part of history and that's worth something. Exactly what I dunno - but something!

And the Leafs don't even get a reward (#1 pick) for sucking as well as they do? That is the ultimate insult to injury. It's like spending a lot of dough to wine and dine a broad and then watching as she bangs the waiter.
"You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard ya hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done!"

this is why i hate the laffs....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=61qNvgbNYXg

that singular play left me enraged that millions of clueless laff fans consider domi a god. it was the first time i wanted to go to another teams board and give them schit, which i did. after the lockout i signed up on their official board to talk trash and had many run ins with vader who is btw hated on their board as well. he followed myself and swflyer to this board where the laffs continue to this day lol

the main reason why laff fans hate the flyers is that we have knocked them out of the playoffs so many times...and its just so much fun for flyer fans to laugh at them for their ineptitude

I always disliked Domi, but that incident really cemented why and how badly I dislike the Leafs.

That and when Tie Domi assaulted a fan.

In both instances, to just sit and listen to the fans, players, and Toronto media makes excuses for his actions were a disgrace. Truly a case of blind loyalty.

<That and when Tie Domi assaulted a fan.>

That's not entirely true, a fat fan fell into the penalty box because the glass wouldn't hold him anymore.

Of course Domi was going to defend himself. That was one of the craziest moments I ever seen in hockey.

Okay. I can understand that. I do recall not liking the Leafs in particular because of Darcy Tucker. I still can’t get over that fight against Lacroix where two Leafs (Tucker being one of them) were beating the crap out of our guy. Still, the Leafs don’t bother me that much. Neither do the Pens. I think I’m the only one on this board that doesn’t hate Crosby with every ounce of my being. I just think he’s a great player who happens to kill us – ditto for Malkin. The Devils are a different story. I have a visceral hatred toward that team stemming back to the mid 90s. I’m inconsolable when we lose to them.

Best Quote I ever read to describe the Leafs.

"No other pro Franchise has done so little of consequence to have so many people simultaneously love and hate them"

It is funny. I mean, the Flyers came into the league the season after the Leafs won their last cup. Since then, the Flyers hae 2 cups, have been to the finals 7 times, have the second best winning % all time in the reg season. Not to mention that we are 4-1 all time head to head vs them in playoff series.

The Leafs take 5 year blocks to rebuild..the Flyers take 1 year...and so on.

Orange and Black attack.

You've just been Pronged!

It’s starting to become a little clearer to me now. I guess I can summarize it by saying that the Leafs are a two-bit organization that really do nothing right where we’re at least competitive every year and seem to always get the types of players that the Leafs covet.

BTW, that quote is classic.

The fan fell into the box because the glass broke. You are correct.

What about that implies Domi needed to defended himself?

The glass didn't give because the fan was attacking Domi. The glass broke because it couldn't hold him.

There was no threat to Domi until he actually started swining first.

Yes, it's from an article in the hockey news yearbook a few seasons ago. It was a 3 page article detailing their futility...only original six team not to have won 3 rounds of playoffs, never had a 1st team all star, and on and on..I won't even mention the clownm show when Ballard was in charge..LOL
it's like they try to suck.

Oh and one further note..I made a mistake, we are 5-1 vs them all time in playoff series, with a game record of 22 wins and 14 losses.

Orange and Black attack.

The 1 was a real muther-effer too. Cheap Cheap B.S. series.

The Leafs series are always friggin dangerous as hell.

War zones.

I'm still pretty confident that the Flyers could have advanced to the cup finals in '04 had they not been through such a brutally physical war with the leafs.

The leafs have for a long time tended to be one of those teams that can't beat you, so they try to wound you.

They don't advance, but they spoil your chances along the way.

Scum. Tie Domie and Darcy Tucker are just the peak of what it means to be a leaf. Scum. Always have been, always will be.

The Leafs are used to this. A couple first round picks they traded away:

1991, 3rd overall pick to the Islanders. The Islanders draft Scott Niedermayer.

That one worked out so well that the Leafs decided to do business with the Islanders again in 1997, trading away the 4th overall pick which the Isles then used to take... Roberto Luongo.
