I think this team can do it. We had some tough games in the first month of this season. I know there are some tough games in November, too, but we can do it! I think when we play our game we can beat every one of those teams. The key: Faceoffs and hitting. When this team plays a smart yet physical game they win. Betts is back so that will definately help us. I say pi-s on the injuries. It's nothing we haven't dealt with before. I'm looking for Laliberte to get a nice amount of playing time and score some goals. Playing Buffalo 3 times in one month will be tough, though. This is going to sound crazy and way too optimistic. Why the hell not add some optimism around here? There were still people complaining about the 6-1 win yesterday so some people will just never be happy. Win faceoffs, play physical and forecheck like a son-of-a-b--ch! LETS GO FLYERS! A pessimist is one who feels bad when he feels good for fear he'll feel worse when he feels better |

Oh yeah, one more thing. One timers from the blueline. When they fire it from a distance good things happen. For example: Look at one of Coburn's goals yesterday. He fired a one-timer from about 50 feet out and he scored. Where has that been? It seems he has kind of shyed away from ripping one-timers. With Pronger, Timo and Coburn there's no excuse to not set up one-timers from the blueline. If they don't go in, the rebound could. An undefeated MONTH? That's 13 games...heck, I'll be elated for an undefeated WEEK (this week). If the Flyers go undefeated this entire month, I'll buy you 4 Club Box Seats to any Flyers home game this year.

When I first saw your thread title, I thought to myself, "did they cancel the November schedule?" Let's try for two or three wins in a row before we start talking about months, shall we? This team hasn't come close to proving they're even capable of that. Hey, all the negativity around here, I had to make an over-the-top optimistic post, just for fun. You know what? I think this team can do it. When this team plays the way they should they can beat anyone. They need to fire more one-timers from the blueline. Coburn and Timo could get so many more goals if they would just wait for that one-timer and then fire it, just like Pronger is so good at doing. If the puck doesn't go in, then, hey, there's a nice juicy rebound. Also, hit hit hit...When this team hits they wear other teams down. I've noticed that when the Flyers come out hitting everything that moves, they win. They feed off of the energy and wear down the opponent. I'm kind of tired of reading all these negative posts where "fans" are labeling the season as a failure and calling it quits. I'm very respectful of other peoples opinions, though, we all should be. A lot of the people saying these negative things seem like very knowledgeable lifelong fans, but some of them seem like they watch a few losses and they think the season is finished. I don't get it. I know there is a lot of room for improvement with this team and I do agree with a lot of people that maybe Stevens shouldn't be behind the bench. I'm not a kool-aid drinker, as many would say. I just think this team has a lot of potential and sometimes it's best to just throw all of the negativity out the door and realize that anything can happen in this long season...anything. Just wanted to remind everyone that we are now 2-0 under my current prediction of an undefeated November. We're looking good. Are there any complaints about the win tonight? A pessimist is one who feels bad when he feels good for fear he'll feel worse when he feels better |

My only complaint is that I did not get to see Riley Cote "rock" LOL! Seriously though it was a great effort and nice to see the flyers not get frustrated by the sabres and take LAZY penalties as they have done in years past. Here's hoping they keep it rolling against the Blues tonight. |

Ok, I'm looking for a 3-0 start to November after tonight and our fourth straight win. Who is playing in net? Is Bouch getting the start? The Blues are at 26th place in the league in scoring with just 2.31 goals per game and we are in first at 3.77 goals per game. They're 3-1-1 on the road. They are 18th in the FO%, we are 20th. They allow about 30 shots/game, we allow about 29. They average 28 shots per game we are in 2nd with 34SPG. Our PP is 1st at 27.1% and their PP is 25th at 14.6% Our PK is just ahead of them. 83.9 for us and 82.1 for the Blues. These pregame numbers have been brought to you by flyeritup. Yeaaaahhhhhhhh!!!!!!!! Giroux and Pyorala in the SO! Way to go Emery making those saves! I seem to get so much more nervous when I can't see the game. Man, sweaty palms and heart beating fast! I haven't listened to a game over the computer in a long time. I like Saunders and Therien. Saunders calls a good game. I'm a stat geek. Every year I do a seasonal (monthly) breakdown for the Flyers. October - 11 games played possible 22 points. I predicted 7 wins 4 losses for 14 points. Flyers went 6-4-1 for 13 points. November - 13 games played possible 26 points. I predicted 11 wins 2 losses for 22 points. My two losses were against Buff tonight and NJ on the 16th. I'm glad my prediction was wrong and I'll gladly jump on the undefeated in November bandwagon. |

Well, 3-0 so far in Nov. I hope the long break AGAIN won't make us come out flat. I want to see Emery beat his old team. The Sens visit the penatly box a lot, so hopefully we can take advantage of that and light it up on the PP. LETS GO FLYERS! so far, so good...definitely the change to get a lot of wins this month.
The Devils will be tough on Monday and it'll be tough beating the Sabres three times in month but we'll see. |

Well, the first loss came on the 14th of November. Not bad. Now, let's forget the loss to the Sabres and play a hell of a game tonight and give the Devs their first road loss of the season! We can do it, boys!! This is a big test. We have to beat the good teams consistently. I want to see a 60 minute effort. Hit everything. Win faceoffs, stay out of the box. NJ is 15th on the PP and 4th on the PK. I think scoring first will be a key in winning tonights game. It'd be nice to put one past Marty early in the first. LETS GO FLYERS! LETS GO FLYERS! The optimism of this thread is such an anomaly, frankly it even creeps me out a bit. Though I had the same thoughts when i saw the schedule in Nov. Seemed doable. Buff def. played with a chip on their shoulder the other night, and we still almost took it from them. Here's to us rebounding tonight |

|
| | | | | 59912.18 in reply to 59912.17 | |
Creeps you out? Why? We have some weaker teams this month and I figured if we gave 60 minute efforts we can beat anyone. When I created this thread there was a lot of negativity. It was an attempt at a change around here. I thought this team could do it, and as of now my prediction is not all that far fetched. looking good tonight midway thru the 2nd. With the Debbies going for a tie on the record for most road victories, this would be a really good one to WIN. 2-0 Flyers, and we are playing GREAT. I know it's fashionable to always point out the problems, but I'm like you - I'm sick of hearing negative "we suck" stuff just because we lost a couple tough games early on. To the board's credit, after the Buff loss there were ZERO negative posts about how much "Stevens sucks" or "the season is over" nonsense. Whatever happens the rest of the way tonight, the first 30 minutes have been EXCELLENT by the Flyers - taking on the toughest road team in the League and going up 2-0. PP cashing in, PK protecting the 1-0 lead, rattling Brodeur and knocking him off his game... ...gotta love it! Way to go Flyers. Just keep up the same style till the final buzzer, that's all I ask. |

that's what i'm saying....There is a certain expectation when I come to this board. I expect to read about reasons Stevens should be fired, how we'll never win a cup, be reminded how long its been since we've won a cup, hear about how Richards can't lead, how the team parties too much, how ridiculous Bettman is, how much we hate Crosby(I can't get enough of that actually), and of course its almost laughable, but Cote getting beat up here as well. I like this team a lot. It felt in the early going they hadn't fully come together, and that they still had last season's personality, which like everybody else on here, infuriated me. But sometimes a team's new personality takes a little time to take. But did anybody else notice Betts started us out last night. I think ppl on here have caught on pretty quick he is a very important cog that doesn't always show up on the stat sheet. Go Flyers |
