It looks that way. I was happy to see JVR stick up for himself. Wasn't afraid to give Alberts a little shove.

It was a safe move. He's not gonna fight Alberts. They shared the same ice surface less than six months ago. Even if a fight did happen Carter know's he'd get his backside handed to him. He's not gonna take that chance. It was a no brainer for Carter. I'm not giving him any credit for being a tough guy.

I believe a couple years ago Carter actually did fight someone,

but even ALberts was laughing when Carter got in his face

carter's a joke...like i posted last year. he is the most over-rated player in the league. if he doesn't score, he's USELESS: his defense is mediocre (at best) as is evidenced by the inordinate amount of lazy penalties he takes while "backchecking"; he doesn't create opportunities for his linemates, in fact, if his shot from the wing (note, he EVER drives to the net, NEVER) is off target, chances are it creates an odd-man rush the other way; he doesn't forecheck, EVER (sadly, he's one of our bigger forwards and he never uses his body. EVER)

i know this is going to cause a stir, but i would love to see him traded for an aggressive, young forward and a young, tough d-man.

"carter's a joke...like i posted last year. he is the most over-rated player in the league. if he doesn't score, he's USELESS"

But the fact is, he scored more than anyone in the league not named Ovechkin last year. That hardly makes him useless.

"i know this is going to cause a stir, but i would love to see him traded for an aggressive, young forward and a young, tough d-man."

Good gms don't trade 24 year old 46 goal scorers for spare parts (though Holmgren might). When you trade the equivalent of 4-1st rounders for a 35 year old defenceman, you'd better be going for it now, not trading your top scorer for a couple of maybes.

Carter gets attacked on here so often I don't even bother responding. Geez, we lose Lupul and Knuble and Briere and Gagne go down...what do we do?? Trade Jeff of course...lol. Somebody has to put the puck in the net....unreal.

Remember all the teams the Flyers had that would outshoot opponents something like 40-21 and lose 3-1? They'd keep the puck in the offensive zone for 5 minutes at a time, but nobody could finish. Then someone like ...Mogilny lets say, would pick up the puck, saunter down the ice and fire a wrister into our net, without breaking a sweat. It'd drive me crazy.

Well, now WE have that guy. So lets get rid of him. Ya, makes sense.

i never said trade carter for "spare parts." several teams should be enamored with his scoring touch.

last year i said we should trade him for getzlaf, a trade proposal that was roundly criticized. would you make that trade now?

honestly, it amazes me that carter has any supporters here, given that he is so soft and one-dimensional---assuming he's scoring, that is.

Would I trade Carter for Getzlaf? Sure. Heck, I wanted the Flyers to draft Getzlaf the year they got Carter.

That doesn't make Carter useless though. And yes, Carter is starting out slow, so let's get rid of him? A 24 year old 40 goal scorer. There's lots of them around the league. There were 7 -40 goal scorers in the NHL last year. Carter was the youngest, and the 2nd highest. Let's see Carter has 4 goals, 7 assists for 11 points. Getzlaf has 1 goal, 10 assists, for 11 points.

i specifically stated in my post that i wanted him traded LAST year when he was actually helping the team.

i know he can score, but i just don't see him as "a complete player"; he's way too soft and plays without passion.

I agree he's not a complete player. Neither was Bossy, Lafleur, Mogilny, Bure etc. But you just don't trade 40-50 goal scorers unless it's for similiar. And you're not getting Getzlaf, he's their team leader.

i understand what you are saying and i agree that SOMEONE has to score but i think a lot less of carter than you do. he reminds me of a POOR MAN'S mike bossy, but we don't have clarke gillies or bob nystrom up fromt who can complement his softness, like the islanders did.

now, if bossy played on the flyers, would i be a fan of his? no way!
