| On Aug. 12 the Inquirer will publish a list of the Top 75 Eagles players as the team prepares to enter its 75th season in the NFL. Who makes your list? Who doesn't? Why? |

Why are we even celebrating 75 years when it is actually 74? The math isn't hard. 2007-1933=74 We started in the 1933-34 season and this is the 2007-08 season. Eagle FO needs to go back to school for basic math. To answer the question though, my all time picks would be: Chuck Bednarick Steve Van Buren Brian Dawkins Tommy McDonald Harold Carmichael Wilbert Montgomery Randall Cunningham Donovan McNabb Reggie White Ron Jaworski ....I'm drawing blanks. I'll be back later when I can think of more. |

>>>The math isn't hard. 2007-1933=74<<< Wouldn't that be 2007 - 1933 inclusive? making it 75 years. I'll use my fingers to know for sure. |

>>>My bad. I'm an idiot.<<< Don't sell yourself short. It's a common error a lot of us make. I don't trust myself sometimes with that inclusive math and break things down individually and then count them. |

I wasn't even thinking about it. I was just thinking about how you'll see a restaurant or something saying "Founded in 1967 - Celebrating 40 years" or something like that and the math comes out (2007-1967=40). I didn't take into account at all about it being inclusive. ....for someone who prides themselves on math skills, that was pretty stupid on my part. Thanks for setting me straight. |

| I'd add Pete Pihos, Bob Brown, Steve Van Buren, and maybe Carmichael, Brookshite, or Retzlaff. Maybe even Sonny J...he played a few years here before we dealt him to the Skins. |

| Ah, tone, 2007-1933 has 2 years inclusive which means it is 75 years not 74. Unsure? If a team played the 1933 and 1934 season, have they been around 2 years or 1 (1934-1933)? |

| why isn't d-mac one of the choices for best eagle ever? PUT BARKLEY IN A NBA VIDEO GAME!
It's not necessarily the responsibility of the go-to guy to involve everyone around him. That's what a point guard is for. But Iguodala has been doing that, too.
"He does that on his own," Cheeks said. "I wouldn't say it's his responsibility, but because of the attention paid to him getting to the middle of the floor, he has options to pass to different guys. It's every guy's responsibility, if a guy is open, to pass the ball."

| 2007 is the 74th anniversary of the Eagles' first season, but it is the 75th season overall. The list of the top 75 players has been out for awhile and it is required reading for all Eagles fans. My initial impression is that some current or recent players got rated too highly. Some recent players that they put near the bottom of the list wouldn't have made my list at all, so the list is weighted a little bit too much towards recent guys. Some guys who played quite awhile ago like Pete Retzlaff should have been rated higher. |

| The list by your "experts" shows only how ill informed younger panelists are about players and coaches who performed before they were born. My own personal pick is Bednarik as #1. He also was on two championship teams, 1949 and 1960. He is number one for me because what he did in 1960 I don't think could have been done by any other player, including White. Bednarik embdies the Eagles. Frankly I think of Reggie as a Packer. VanBuren of course was a great runner but as they say, defense wins championships. But I'll give you that Van Buren, White, Bednarik all belong in the top 5. I would say one of the other hall of famers includingMcDonald, Pihos, AlexW,and maybe even Bucko Kilroy should be there------but how does anyone not include Van Brocklin in the top 5? Go to the source for his credentials. He single handedly took a floundering franchise and in the space of 3 years willed them to the NFL title. Players on both sides of the ball acknowledge it. Read Didingers or Gordons book. Without Van Brocklin, there would be no 1960 Championship. Reid as best coach? I don't think so. Not when it takes 4 times to win a conference championship. If you are giving me one game to show what I have----Greasy Neale is it. |
