| I beat up the L.B.'s and Jordan pretty good. Although Witherspoon is playing lights out, good players need other very good players around them to teach them & draw some attention. the LBs did play well Sunday, but I can't say they've been even "good" so far this yr. Spoon is by far an upgrade. But I am coming to the sports conclusion in football that if a player isn't standing out on the defensive side, chances are that AT BEST, he is merely a "nice" player. Well with Jordan and Gocong as RFA/FA after this year (I think) im guessing a LB upgrade is more likely. and I'd rather upgrade our LBs than our LDE. I think our LBs have more room to improve than the LDE. That said, having Bradley, Spoon and Gocong (?) may actually be a nice combo. with an upgraded DE, the Lb's dont have to be as good. so we could upgrade several spots with one move (in theory). Assuming the DE is a good one. and with cole on the other side, the guy will see lots of one on one. Cole needs some help before long, or he's gonna be beaten up by all the double teams. I go the other way.... with an upgrade at LB, we improve the LDE (i admit that im OK with Abiramiri) I also think that our LBs have more room to improve than our LDE does- who many forget- is essentially a platoon guy. VA plays 1st n 2nd down, and then moves inside. And we also have 2 'sets' of DLINEMAN. give me a 3 down backer "The SPORT SAVANT"--NOT Jason "Avant's" fan club President

OK, then let me ask you, why is Bradley anything more than a nice player.
Sure he had a ton of tackles but any MLB would if he is in the game for all three downs.
I posed this question previously to people I know before Witherspoon was traded for and it is even more interesting now. When has Bradley ever dominated a game, a half or a quarter that he played in? I do not remember any.
Now since they acquired Spoon, is it safe to say that Wil had a better first quarter with the eagles than any GAME Bradley ever had? To me, Bradley is an OK player, he can stay on the field but he is not a great or even very good player. |

| I agree with you 100% although I am probably a little hihger on Bradley then you the esteem a lot of people hold him doesn't seem to match his statistics. I don't claim to be an expert on the finer points of football though but from my view point Bradley was not great last year. More like good. |

I think he had one forced fumble and one sack last year, Witherspoon had that on one play. I know his tackle numbers are high but that is to be expected. I do not dislike him, i just do not see what all the fuss is about. EDIT:
one sack, one forced fumble, one INT. all year or the same thing Witherspoon had in one quarter

| All we need now a is a SAM. I think Witherspoon can handle MIKE for us for another 2-3 years with Bradley playing the SAM |

you can argue either side of this as a fan. I actually think the dude Bradley can really play. yeah he gets beat by a TE, but what MLB doesnt. But I also think Bradley's speed and strength combination allows the D and other players to do other things. With him in the middle they have been way better against the run (some may say that's BB and Patt's doing)..... I'm more of the opinion that Bradley hasn't played with an above avg LB yet. Fair enough, I just do not see it.
I think an MLB who has the ability to stay on the field all three downs can get 100 tackles just by showing up. at his position it should not be intangibles but rather measurables that define him. I just do not see any evidence he is anything other than a regular player.
I strongly disagree that he has any hand in the strong run support the eagles have had over the last three years or so, the tackles have done a great job, a lot of the time when Bradley was sidelined.

I'm not disagreeing at all. Spoon is a playmaker and I dont want to lose that from a LB. And since he "appears" to be best suited for WILL by size and stature, MITE is his 2nd best position. Bradley absolutely has the size to play SAM but people who know more than me (Baldinger amongst others) think the kid is a star in the making at MLB. I'm not sure moving him to SAM (arguably making the mlb worse) is the move. But I do think that with his knee injury, it makes it more possible that Spoon stays in the middle. he is at best an avg SAM lb, and I do expect/hope that they draft his replacement this yr. I guess im just trying to look at it as: if Bradley and Spoon are the other two LBs, there's not as big of a problem having Gocong smash up the strong side on the run.
